How To Reduce Blender Noise | [Unique Tips]

how to reduce blender noise

Isn't it difficult to imagine our life without blenders?

In fact, today blenders are considered to be an important part of a healthy lifestyle.

I simply love fruit juices, vegetable soups etc and hope that most of you fall under my category.

Whether you are regular at the gym, running, cycling or yoga, a glass of juice can provide you with the necessary vitamins and minerals.

The best way to get a natural glass of soup or juice is to use a blender.

Well, you may be wondering that why we have chosen "how to reduce blender noise" as our today's blog post topic, isn't it?

After all, I am a victim of the side-effects of an ultra-noisy blender. Seriously, I had to gain a lot of courage to speak to my wife about its irritating loudness. Needless to say, she had a counter argument and well-scripted explanation to keep my mouth shut and the same thing happened :)

I have to bear the noise of the blender every morning until my wife felt that it is taking a toll on her peace of mind as well.

But, you may not be fortunate enough to replace a loud blender with a quiet one.

I hope you understood the thing I am trying to highlight.

Remember for a successful professional and personal life, BOSS AND WIFE are always RIGHT respectively.

I successfully convinced my wife to replace the loud blender because our baby was just a few months old and she used to get frightened by the noise that the blender create.

After all, babies need complete silence in the early years. The more they sleep the better will be their physical and mental growth.

Now comes the excitement in the story, we did a lot of research and bought a high-end blender, the manufacturer of the blender claims it to be the quietest on the planet.

I really loved the look and feel of the blender and was really happy to have an enticing product added to our kitchen and, similar was my wife expression as well as feeling.

While I was driving back to my home, both of us only talking positive about the product and in an epigrammatic span of time, we discussed the benefits that we can get from this blender.

BUT...

Fate has decided a different story to write for us.

Can you guess?

Yes, you guessed it perfectly right. Though the new blender was less noisy still it was noisy enough to create havoc for my few months old kids.

We completely lost our cool and within a couple of minutes, I have to say SORRY to my wife and take all the faults on my head in order to NOT spoil a romantic evening.

As I have mentioned before also, WIFE is always RIGHT.

Anyways, we had to find some solution to this problem. By the way, we were left with only a few options now.
  • Again buy another blender
  • Leave using blender
  • Use some innovative tricks to reduce blender noise.
We prefer to go with the third one because we were least interested in digging our pocket more and the quality of the blender was really good other than being noisy.

My wife took the initiative and did a lot of research and finally, she was ready with a plan. Trust me, it was really a hit and trial method because before we haven't done anything similar to it.

Our final goal was to reduce the noise of the blender to a tolerable one.

To know, whether we succeeded or NOT, you have to read till the last and of course, we have some bonus tips for you.

We are only sharing what we really did and the percentage of noise we were able to reduce.

how to reduce blender noise

  • Move your blender to another spot and if you have a soundproof room, then place it there
  • Put a towel underneath your blender
  • Place a rubber or a silicone mat
  • If possible make or else buy a sound enclosure box for your blender
  • Soundproof the surrounding area
  • Try some noise reducing earmuffs
  • Blend your meal night before
  • Buy a silent blender
I will suggest you, mix a couple methods mentioned to get a fruitful and effective outcome.

Move your blender to another spot

A lot can be achieved by placing the blender in the correct place. It's not advisable to place the blender either near the wall or in the corner of the kitchen. Placing the blender at any of these places can amplify the noise.

The logic is very simple. If you are placing blender near a hard surface such as a wall, the sound waves generated by the blender will bounce off from the hard surface (in this case wall) and amplify the noise.

I will suggest you, move it in the middle of the wall. By doing so, you can definitely reduce the sound amplification.

I have seen a lot many people NOT liking the idea of putting the blender in the middle of the kitchen. To them, I will suggest to keep it aside once you are done with the blenders.

So, the first trick is re-positioning, trust me, it will work. Again, the output of this method depends a lot on the dimension of your kitchen.

This method will not be very effective if your kitchen is very small.

Put a soft towel underneath your blender

This is again a cost-effective method where you don't have to spend a lot of time or money.

The concept is quite simple. Just you need to have an extra towel or a piece of cloth of similar dimension.

You need to put the towel, cloth, mat or similar material under the blender and you are done. These materials will definitely dampen a part of the noise.

Again, you have to keep in mind that by any means don't put anything which is hard under the blender, it will act in a reverse way and, the noise will only amplify.

Place a silicone or a rubber mat

If you aren't satisfied with the towel performance then, you can try silicone or a rubber mat. They may act better. My wife found the rubber mat a better option as compared to the towel.

It helped NOT only to reduce noise but also, vibration.

However, this trick needs a small investment from your side and I hope you can easily manage it.

Make or buy a sound enclosure box

We will divide this heading into two sub-headings.
  • Make a sound enclosure box
  • Buy a sound enclosure box
It's better to make a customized sound enclosure box. But for this, you need to have some skills, materials, and of course patience. Again, you must have an attitude to unlearn and learn.

The process is simpler than you think. The first thing that you need to keep in mind is that the box should be slightly bigger than the blender.
  • You need to have some wood, plastic or cardboard to make a box
  • Then, line it with some thick materials
  • Remember, one side of the box should stay open
  • Finally, you will get a sound enclosure box which is much cheaper than the one that you will buy.
  • Lastly, you can customize the box as per your need
Our next option is to buy an enclosure box. You just need to pay attention to the features, characteristics, and the dimensions of the brand.

Some blenders have enclosure box made for them. So, its advisable to be careful when you choose an enclosure box.

The logic is very simple, by enclosing the blender in an enclosure box, you can negate the impact of blender's noise.

Soundproof surroundings

As mentioned earlier, if you have a small kitchen then, putting the blender in the middle will not make much difference and it is highly likely that it will NOT match your expectation.

So, what's the solution?

Well, you can soundproof the surroundings and see how it works?

You simply need to place soundproof foam to the nearest wall to your blender. The foam will reduce the echo produced by the blender's motor.

Using the double-sided tape, you can install the foam in a couple of minutes.

Blend your meal night before

First of all, I would like to make it clear that this is a temporary solution and it's advisable to use it for a short-term purpose.

You can make your smoothie a night before and pour it into an air-tight container after the blending.

Remember, to shake it carefully before using it.

The downside of this method is that the smoothie won't be fresh. Anyways something is better than nothing.

Buy some noise-reducing earmuffs

I will say earmuffs can be a great option. You can buy a good earmuff that can help you to get rid of the unwanted blender noise but at the same time, you can consider it as a temporary solution only.

Many people may not prefer this option.

So, you need to ask yourself whether you are comfortable using earmuffs or NOT.

Buy a silent blender

The blind race of power and speed has made blender louder enough to disturb the morning decorum of the house. It's really difficult to find a quiet blender and for the same reason, I have shared my story.

I will suggest you, try this option only if you haven't achieved the goal by trying all the previous solution. Sometimes a combination of two or more option may work for you.

Anyways, if you have decided to buy a quiet blender then, we are here to help you out.

In case you want to go with my recommendation then, you can try one from the recommended list:
  • Vita-Mix Quiet One Blender- After all the hard work I and my wife have put in finding a quiet blender, I can assure you that this is the quietest blender available in the market. I did the mistake of buying a competitors product which also claims high of being the "Quietest Blender". So, I will suggest you, go with the Vita-Mix if you are planning to buy a silent blender. The downside of this blender is that it is a bit costly.
  • Blendtec Pro 800
  • Hamilton Beach Professional
